Description: As a member of the Finance Committee, the Budget Manager’s role is to monitor expenses against the approved budget. The Budget Manager’s input is crucial to ensure that WCS committees and WCS event managers’ decisions support the strategic plan and budget. This is a great role for someone looking to broaden their skill set in finance and strategic planning, build their network, and gain executive exposure.
Key Activities
- Create a yearly budget template based on the prior-year template with updated programs.
- Distribute the budget template to committees to populate proposals for the budget for the next year.
- Compile the inputs to ensure consistency with the WCS strategy.
- Lead the budget board review and approval process with Treasurer in December and January with the Treasurer
- Review and provide feedback to committees on proposed budgetary items
- Provide a periodic updates on the status of the account (quarterly or as requested by the board)
- Work with the bookkeepers to review the expenses reported in the P&L versus the budget
- Process reimbursement request forms
Time Commitment & Expectations
- Reports to the Treasurer/Chair of the Finance Committee and works closely with the Finance Director/Vice Chair of the Finance Committee
- Attend regular Finance Committee meetings
- Up to 5 hours per week dedicated to WCS
- 1 year commitment
- Sign a non-disclosure agreement
