Mission Statement
The mission of the DC Chapter is to foster a regional WCS community of professionals that connects, cultivates and creates new opportunities for participants through events focused on the DC region.
Description
The DC Chapter organized virtual and in-person events that cater to people living in the greater metropolitan area, as well as feature topics important to its environment and people living in this region. We collaborate with a variety of community organizations, industry leaders and volunteers to host regular events. We are known for our social outing events such as hikes, beach clean ups, and other excursions.

Kate Beysselance Chapter LeadKate Beysselance is an experienced sustainability manager, construction manager, trainer, and Climate Fresk Facilitator dedicated to helping communities and businesses create practical pathways toward greener futures. With a career spanning nearly every aspect of construction, including field engineering, superintending, project management, scheduling, estimating, quality control, training, and construction sustainability planning, Kate brings a deep understanding of how built environments are planned, managed, and improved. Through her work with Green Futures, LLC, she now focuses her professional energy on guiding people and organizations to make thoughtful business and personal decisions that support a healthier, more sustainable planet.

Emily Burlinghaus Events LeadEmily Burlinghaus is the director of energy storage manufacturing and supply chain at SEIA, bringing experience across energy, climate policy, and national security. Previously, she served as a senior advisor at the U.S. Department of Defense and held roles with Chambers for Innovation and Clean Energy and the Atlantic Council Global Energy Center, where she focused on clean energy tax credits, innovation policy, and energy security. She has also worked internationally in Europe and the Middle East, including as a German Chancellor Fellow researching EV battery supply chain sustainability. Emily holds a B.A. from NYU and an M.S. from Johns Hopkins, and lives in Washington, DC with her coonhound, Manny.

Anamika Sinha Membership LeadAnamika is a Research Assistant at the Japan Electric Power Information Center (JEPIC-USA), an energy research nonprofit based in Washington, DC, where she writes published reports, attends industry conferences, and conducts market research on U.S. energy policy and the electric power sector for Japanese electric power companies. She also explores her interests in sustainability, business, and social entrepreneurship through certificates, accelerator programs, and pro-bono strategy consulting for environmental nonprofits with Seed Consulting Group. Anamika holds a B.B.A. in Supply Chain Management and International Business, with a certificate in Personal and Organizational Leadership and a minor in Japanese. Outside of work, she enjoys language learning, hiking, reading, and gardening.

Lynlee Derrick Partnerships LeadLynlee Derrick is the Federal Affairs Specialist with the American Clean Power Association (ACP). Lynlee received her B.A. in International Studies with concentrations in Environmental Sustainability and Global Health and Peace, Global Security, and Conflict Resolution from American University in Washington, D.C. Before working at ACP, Lynlee interned at the Environmental and Energy Study Institute where she covered sustainability efforts in the Farm Bill in regard to hemp and food procurement.
