Amsterdam

Mission Statement

The mission of the Amsterdam Chapter is to foster a regional WCS community of professionals that connects, cultivates, and creates new opportunities for participants through events focused on the Amsterdam and the EU.

Description

The Amsterdam Chapter organizes virtual and in-person events that cater to people living in the European Union and feature topics important to its environment and people living in this region. We collaborate with a variety of community organizations, industry leaders, and volunteers to host regular events. We are known for our social outing events, such as hikes, beach clean-ups, and other excursions.

Chapter Leadership

  • Lucie Ladigue
Lucie Ladigue Amsterdam Chapter Partnerships Lead

Lucie Ladigue is a connector, strategist, and advocate for systems change working at the intersection of sustainability, innovation, and collaboration. As Partnership & Policy Manager at the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute (C2CPII), she works across industries—including fashion, building materials, packaging, and print—to help product developers integrate circularity and healthy materials into product design.

With a strong focus on environmental policy and systems-level impact, Lucie leads the Institute’s engagement with evolving EU regulatory frameworks, ensuring that the C2C Certified® Products Program both aligns with and helps inform Europe’s rapidly changing sustainability landscape. Her work supports brands, manufacturers, and institutions in advancing circular economy strategies that prioritize healthy, circular, and fair design.

Endlessly curious about how systems connect, Lucie is passionate about building bridges between sectors, geographies, and ideas. Through partnerships, research, and public speaking, she helps translate complex sustainability challenges into collaborative solutions that drive meaningful change for people and the planet. She is excited to engage with the Women in Cleantech & Sustainability Amsterdam chapter, where she looks forward to sharing knowledge, strengthening networks, and supporting spaces where women can connect, exchange expertise, and amplify their collective impact.

  • Akhila Nandanavanam
Akhila Nandanavanam Amsterdam Chapter Events Lead

Akhila is an entrepreneur and co-founder of Soil Next BV, a climate-focused startup working to restore soils as powerful carbon sinks. She previously built her career in consulting and the FMCG sector, working with global brands including Gillette, Colgate-Palmolive, and Danone, where she developed the strategic and operational skills that now inform her work as a founder.

Motivated by a desire to create environmental impact, Akhila transitioned from corporate work to entrepreneurship to focus on climate solutions. Through Soil Next, she is helping advance healthier soils that support food security, resilient communities, and climate stability.

She is also passionate about increasing opportunities for women in climate tech, where less than 2% of venture capital funding currently goes to female founders. Akhila is an active member of the Women in Cleantech & Sustainability (WCS) Amsterdam Chapter and enjoys connecting with fellow climate innovators—often over coffee in Amsterdam Nieuw-West.

  • Cinzia Alberti Mazzaferro
    Cinzia Alberti Mazzaferro Membership Lead

Hi, I’m Cinzia and I’m an expert in clean energy policy. I work to support climate tech investors and startups as they navigate evolving policies, regulations and market-entry pathways. My work focuses on helping innovators understand the policy landscape so they can scale solutions to accelerate the energy transition. I’ve always been deeply committed to increasing female representation in the traditionally male-dominated field of cleantech policy. I’m really happy to join the WCS Amsterdam chapter because I see an opportunity to build a community where women in cleantech can share knowledge, access resources and support each other’s growth!
