About WCS

Founded in 2011, Women in Cleantech & Sustainability is a nonprofit 501(c)6 organization made up of nearly 3,000 professional women and men building the green economy.  Our members range from students and entry-level professionals to Founders, C-Suite executives, and investors.

Mission Statement

The Membership Committee works with the WCS Board of Directors (BOD) on the day-to-day membership needs and the membership strategic plan. It coordinates and manages membership engagement, membership resources and monthly onboarding. The committee is divided into  corporate members and individual members but the co-chairs work closely together. To empower the community, WCS has invested in Memberclicks, an all-in-one membership, events registration, and community software. 

Description

As the Co-Chair of corporate memberships you are responsible for providing strategy and leadership to the Committee members and creating an excellent membership experience for our WCS corporate members. You work closely with your Co-Chair of Individual Memberships to ensure things run smoothly and that the committee has the support it needs to excel. The Co-Chair plays a critical role in fostering communication, reporting back to the executive committee on progress, and ensuring proper management and utilization of membership tools and resources. There is a paid coordinator who will assist with some of the administrative daily activities. 

About the Role: 

As Co-Chair you are a member of the Board of Directors and communicate and coordinate with other Board Members as well as oversee employees of WCS to manage membership engagement, membership specific marketing, coordination of bi-weekly committee meetings and monthly onboardings, efficiency, and effectiveness of all processes. You are a self starter who inspires others to work on your ideas and have passion to build teams. 

You are responsible for providing strategy and leadership to the Committee members and creating an excellent membership experience for our WCS corporate members. You work closely with your Co-Chair to ensure things run smoothly and that the committee has the support it needs to excel. The Co-Chair plays a critical role in fostering communication, reporting back to the executive committee on progress, and ensuring proper management and utilization of tools and resources. 

Key Activities

  • Meetings with Co-Chair  (Individual Memberships)
  • Co-facilitate biweekly Membership Committee meetings with your  co-chair 
  • Oversee CSM to coordinate corporate member monthly onboarding
  • Mentor and inspire committee volunteers 
  • Onboard new volunteers with the assistance of the Volunteer Manager, Membership Customer Success Manager (CSM) and Secretary
  • Review corporate membership reports and present data trends and new project proposals to Board at Leadership and Quarterly Board meetings
  • Oversee and manage Memberclicks online system
  • Oversee the customer success manager paid coordinator role
  • Delegate and manage administrative tasks to the CSM and other paid coordinators

Who you are: Skills and Experience 

The below skills are preferred but not required for consideration:

  • Experience in people management, project management, and has experience hiring and firing 
  • Enjoy meeting new people, facilitating Zoom calls and scheduling events
  • Protect confidentiality of Board discussions, corporate member and volunteer data
  • Passionate about empowering women in the cleantech and sustainability space
  • Fundraising experience for non-profit organizations or other 
  • Deepen interpersonal skills, particularly in leadership, mentorship, and recruitment

Time Commitment & Expectations

  • Fundraising minimum of $2,500 for corporate membership/sponsorship 
  • Attend monthly Executive Committee meetings, quarterly leadership meetings and quarterly Board meetings (via video-conference) and annual in-person leadership retreat 
  • 5 hours per week dedicated to WCS 
  • 2 year commitment 
  • Successful candidates will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement
  • Annual board dues
