Senior BMS Cell Algorithm Design Engineer, Battery Pack Design and Architecture
The Embedded Systems team designs, develops, and supports battery pack power electronics controls for all Proterra products, including sustaining current production programs and resolving technical issues. In this role, you will support cell algorithm controls design, define cell limits within embedded architectures, and create design documentation. You’ll partner with manufacturing to establish cell quality metrics across the full product lifecycle. As the BMS application layer/cell integration component manager, you’ll support controls from concept through production, ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, thermal, structural, and manufacturability requirements.
Embedded Systems Software Engineer
Proterra seeks an Embedded Systems Software Engineer for its BMS team, focused on field reliability and current product support. The role involves sustaining and enhancing production BMS software through diagnostics, calibration, and hands-on issue resolution to ensure safe, reliable battery performance. Candidates should have 2–3 years of embedded software experience in automotive, EV, or battery systems, with knowledge of BMS diagnostics, CAN/UDS protocols, and calibration tools. This role offers direct field exposure, collaboration with manufacturing and service teams, and a strong path into advanced BMS development within a high-impact electrification program.
Cross Functional Remanufacturing Technician
This role supports both battery remanufacturing operations and field service needs. Primary responsibilities include repairing and rebuilding battery packs, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, performing root cause analysis, and documenting work for traceability. The technician collaborates with engineering and production teams to develop repair procedures and improve processes while maintaining safety and 5S standards. As needed, the role also supports field service by performing on-site diagnostics, repairs, and customer training.
