As the Marketing Co-chair, you help run the Marketing committee and lead the marketing efforts for WCS. You are a member of the WCS Board and will be influencing the strategic direction of the organization. You work closely with the other Marketing Co-chair, committee board members, marketing volunteers, and coordinators to ensure that WCS has a strong brand and all events and programs are marketed effectively. You are also responsible for leading the group of volunteers that are part of the marketing committee.

Role Description

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Work closely with the other co-chair of marketing to divide up responsibilities
  • Work closely with the events and other committees to market upcoming events and programs through various channels (social media,website, newsletter) with support of the marketing coordinator; this primarily involves suggesting a strategic posting schedule, and reviewing and refining the graphics and messaging as developed by the marketing coordinator in coordination with the event/program organizer
  • help recruit volunteers to lead the different marketing projects, including developing promotional content (thought leadership), social media planning (program campaigns), analytics reporting, graphics and visuals developments, and website updates
  • Schedule and facilitate marketing meetings for committee members to discuss announcements, project updates, and new ideas and initiatives
  • Coach volunteer committee members 
  • Delegate administrative tasks to the marketing coordinator as needed (note that as of Feb 2024, the marketing coordinator takes the lead on the development of graphics, copy for social media or CTAs, setting up newsletters, and handling the website updates; direction and support from the marketing co-chair on these items is appreciated, but not the sole responsibility of the marketing co-chair)
  • Work with the board to define and articulate WCS organization & board priorities, vision, and goals
  • Develop an annual marketing strategy in line with organizational objectives

Skills & Qualifications

The below skills are preferred but not required for consideration:

  • Experience in marketing, project management, people management, or similar fields
  • Enjoy meeting new people, facilitating Zoom calls and scheduling events
  • Maintain confidentiality of board issues and volunteer data
  • Passionate about empowering women in the cleantech and sustainability space
  • Social media marketing experience 
  • Experience in managing and leading a group of volunteers

Commitments

  • Fundraising minimum of $2,500 for corporate membership/sponsorship annually
  • 5 hours per week dedicated to WCS 
  • Attend quarterly board meetings, quarterly leadership meetings and committee meetings 
  • 2-year commitment 
  • $100 Annual board dues paid in January each year of board service
