Stakeholder Engagement Lead | ARPA-E | Washington, DC


ARPA-E is seeking a highly motivated and skilled stakeholder engagement lead with experience in energy  innovation-related organizations to engage investor, industry, innovator and innovation ecosystem  stakeholders. The Stakeholder Engagement Lead will define and manage the execution of ARPA-E’s  engagement with investors (such as venture capital and strategic investors) and innovation support  communities (such as incubators and accelerators). In this capacity, the candidate will lead a broad range of  stakeholder-engagement initiatives to support ARPA-E’s mission of supporting the development and market  transition of energy technologies. 

The most competitive candidates will have strong organization and interpersonal communication skills, work  well in team and collaborative environments, and have energy industry experience. 

Job activities will include: 

  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive stakeholder engagement plan to reach ARPA-E’s key investment and innovation support stakeholders 
  • Developing, prioritizing, and managing relationships with various stakeholders including investors,  incubators/accelerators, innovators, and technology adopters 
  • Leading engagement activities with stakeholders 
  • Representing ARPA-E in front of a range of stakeholders  
  • Identifying platforms such as conferences, speaking events, and direct engagement with stakeholders  to build awareness of ARPA-E 
  • Working with the ARPA-E team of T2M Advisors, Program Directors, and the Communications team to  develop, coordinate, and track engagement efforts 
  • Establishing, implementing and teaching best practices to support the stakeholder and outreach strategy at the program/application-area level 
  • Developing and executing SCALEUP Program-related stakeholder engagement related activities to  support the translation of SCALEUP technologies into commercial products 

Desired Qualifications: 

  • A bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in a technical discipline  
  • Advanced degree is required 
  • 5+ years of experience, working on outreach strategy within a technology-driven organization, ideally  within the energy or climate change mitigation industries 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical  and/or financial ideas and concepts to wide-range of audiences 
  • Strong technical communication background and experience  
  • Familiarity with new company formation and venture investing desired 
  • Demonstrated interest/expertise in energy and energy technologies 
  • US Citizenship is required 

The Stakeholder Engagement Lead will report to the ARPA-E Associate Director for Technology-to-Market, and  will serve full-time for a minimum of 3 years at ARPA-E’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
