RElytix is on a mission to accelerate the transition to renewable energy. We develop unique data that encourages investment and reduces risks for all types of electric power assets, including renewable (wind, solar, storage, hydro), thermal (coal, gas, nuclear), and high voltage transmission. Your day-to-day work will engage you and challenge you. You will be an integral part of our multifunctional collaborative team. Your work will be highly varied – from researching the latest trends in renewable energy, to performing quantitative analysis of power grid data, to developing requirements for our engineering team.

The Role

Our Senior Analyst of Energy Analyst and Modeling plays a key role in developing our differentiated data and models. You will track trends in the US power market and apply your knowledge in quantitative analysis. You will build the models that we use to deliver accurate and granular insights to our clients. You will help us delight our customers by serving as an expert on the market, and on what you have built. And as part of a tight-knit startup, you will work extensively with our technical and customer-facing teams.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Monitor the energy market – track trends in areas such as renewable energy, battery storage, distributed generation, grid modernization, retirement of conventional generation, and energy policy
  • Analyze external sources of data on the US power grid, spanning environmental, financial, and operational metrics. Work with the engineering team to source and automate the ingestion of emerging datasets
  • Develop models and forecasts of the US electric grid, leveraging in-house tools and the expertise of our senior team. Own the models you build and manage model evolution over time
  • Collaborate with technical teams to develop tools for automating model updates
  • Plan and execute benchmarking to test the accuracy of your models, and to improve future modelling
  • Collaborate with our senior team and clients to develop future market evolution scenarios
  • Serve as a subject matter expert to explain market models and forecasts to clients
  • Collaborate with client success teams in addressing client questions and requests

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in a quantitative field
  • At least 2 years of full-time professional work experience
  • Quantitative & analytical skills, with 2+ years of relevant work experience in a quantitative analysis
  • Energy market knowledge, with 2+ years of experience in one or more of these areas: policy & regulation, renewable energy, energy storage, traditional power generation and transmission development
  • Strong interest in becoming a power industry expert
  • Familiarity with commercial platforms for data analysis and visualization, such as Tableau, PowerBI, Spotfire
  • Proficiency with SQL
  • Proficiency with Python, R, C++, Matlab or other similar programming languages.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience with power modeling software, including ENELYTIX, PLEXOS, ProMOD, Gridview, Aurora, GE MAPS, Dayzer, etc.
  • Experience building models and forecasts
