The Ad Hoc Group was founded by Jim Kapsis, a former climate negotiator in the Obama Administration and leader of the global regulatory team at Opower, Inc., an energy efficiency software company that sold to Oracle in 2016. Jim is also co-host of Technopolis, a podcast about how technology is disrupting, remaking, and sometimes overrunning our cities.

About the Position:

AHG is looking for part time marketing and communications support to elevate its public profile, deepen relationships with relevant reporters and thought leaders, and share its market and policy insights with a broader audience. This person will be responsible for drafting content (e.g. newsletters, blog posts, articles), supporting AHG thought leadership and media relationships, and creating engaging digital content for AHG and our clients.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop effective strategies to raise awareness of AHG and its work within relevant climate, energy, and sustainability communities.

  • Help write, manage and run the AHG newsletter, The Gist, and other AHG social media content.

  • Liaise with media, pitch stories for AHG, and generate and manage requests for interviews.

  • Write and conduct research for AHG thought leadership content including blog posts, articles, and the Technopolis podcast.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A track record of successful marketing and communications work related to climate, sustainability and tech.

  • Credible relationships with media and trade press in climate, energy, tech and policy.

  • A demonstrated ability to generate stories, interviews, and press mentions.

  • Familiarity with climate issues ideally with expertise in one or more climate-related segments, such as building decarbonization, transportation electrification, renewable energy, climate resilience, or carbon removal

Location:  Flexible

Compensation and Benefits: This is a paid, part-time opportunity, with the option for either hourly compensation or a monthly retainer.
