The goal of this project is to assess the potential ecological effects of toxic pollutants on aquatic life as it relates to Clean Water Act ambient water quality criteria development. The participant will have the opportunity to learn about the development of Clean Water Act ambient water quality criteria and benchmarks to help ensure that water is safe for aquatic life. The participant will have the opportunity to assist in the development of criteria, prioritization approaches and/or methodologies for criteria development.
This research opportunity supports EPA’s mission to protect and restore U.S. water resources and habitats for the health and economic benefit of all citizens. PPB plays a critical role in OWOW and the national water program, serving as the focal point for the use of collaborative, stakeholder-driven approaches to help states achieve Clean Water Act goals. The opportunity focuses on strengthening collaboration between the Urban Waters Federal Partnership (UWFP) and the water utility sector.
