Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Vice President of Commercial Operations will lead the company’s largest business unit, which include commercial and industrial solar power, solar thermal, energy storage and electric vehicle solutions. The company focuses on 2 primary commercial markets: developers of new facilities and business owners of existing facilities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity of joining the company at an exciting time to support growth, drive operational excellence and strengthen the company’s core competencies. The role will entail managing the entire commercial project lifecycle, from contract to commissioning.
The successful candidate will lead the following key functional teams:
Team focuses on leading the project planning and management of the projects;
Team focuses on designing solar power, energy storage and solar thermal systems;
Team focuses on managing the projects’ materials / equipment supply chain, while maintaining the field team’s warehouse and fleet;
Team comprised of superintendents, forepersons, crew leads and installers, focuses on field operations involving self-performance crews, sub-contractors and material deliveries to install company’s system.
Ensure the safety of employees and sub-contractors first;
Manage the Commercial Operations team to deliver project mission and target job profit;
Improve the company’s project production system, in an effort to streamline flow efficiency and reduce failure demand;
Provide oversight / management of a system of robust project planning, project management and field operations utilizing Lean Project Delivery System (LPDS) continuous improvement methods;
Manage relationships with clients, vendors and sub-contractors.
At least 10 years’ proven leadership experience within a similar role, focusing on solar power, energy storage, construction, engineering, or related fields involving project management, project engineering, or field management;
Demonstrated ability to organize and motivate team members to successfully execute projects; provide coaching, mentoring and encouragement for successful problem solving and making his/her own calculated decisions;
Experience or knowledge applying lean project delivery philosophy and methods within a solar engineering and construction operation, preferred.
