Project Finance Analyst

This position will support all of Adapture Renewables’ financing efforts and assist in the creation of financial models for project finance and M&A transactions.

Opportunity

Drawing upon an extensive knowledge base, we realize projects with speed, flexibility and high quality. Our Project Finance team is looking for a talented Project Finance Analyst to help support the efforts of our fast-growing company. The position will be based in our Oakland, California office. Adapture Renewables, Inc. is a subsidiary of the Danish KIRKBI Group.

Overview

This position will work in our Project Finance team and support all of the company’s financing efforts and assist in the creation of financial models for project finance and M&A transactions.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support the development of valuation models to analyze the economic merits and risks associated with new project acquisitions
  • Collaborate with Adapture Renewables’ engineers, developers and accounting professionals to develop appropriate assumptions for project models
  • Update the consolidation file with actuals and monitor long-term cash flows
  • Assist in due diligence processes for project finance and M&A transactions
  • Create and maintain investment memos, investor presentations and project summaries
  • Develop and maintain project finance related intelligence (tax equity terms, property and sales tax information, local subsidies, RECs etc.)
  • Support the Asset Management team with ongoing operating reports and draw requests

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or related field
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in finance, banking or power industry
  • Demonstrated ability to work with complex financial models in Excel
  • Experience with tax equity and/or term debt transactions in renewables sector preferred
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Compliance Manager

This position will work in our Asset Management team and play a vital role in overseeing the financial and regulatory obligations of Adapture Renewables’ solar assets across the U.S., ensuring financial covenants are fulfilled and regulatory commitments are met. As the go-to person for all compliance matters, this person will coordinate closely with the Project Finance and Accounting teams and will be the primary interface between the Asset Management team and its project financing partners, federal and local agencies, and offtaking utilities. The Compliance Manager is key in maintaining the balance between corporate and project entity interests, so a high degree of intuition and reasoned judgment is essential.

Core Responsibilities

  • This position is within our Asset Management team and plays a vital role in overseeing the financial and regulatory obligations of Adapture Renewables’ solar assets across the U.S., ensuring financial covenants are fulfilled and regulatory commitments are met. As the go-to person for all compliance matters, this person will coordinate closely with the Project Finance and Accounting teams and will be the primary interface between the Asset Management team and its project financing partners, federal and local agencies, and offtaking utilities. The Compliance Manager is key in maintaining the balance between corporate and project entity interests, so a high degree of intuition and reasoned judgment is essential.
  • With feedback from Project Finance, formulate and create accurate budget tracking processes and models as new portfolios and financing structures are adopted
  • Prepare and submit scheduled (and unscheduled if needed) draw/transfer requests as stated in the finance documents
  • Work with Asset Management, Project Finance, Legal, and Accounting to ensure finance document covenants are fulfilled in a timely and accurate fashion by sourcing and submitting operating reports, financials, officer’s certificates, and any necessary consents or waivers
  • Communicate with regulatory agencies and Adapture Renewables’ finance partners to field inquiries and requests
  • Work with the Accounting team to ensure revenue is received and expenses are paid in accordance with contract terms
  • Fulfill regulatory filing obligations, both initial and ongoing – includes EIA, WREGIS, FERC/NERC, and any state or local regulatory requirements
  • Complete both the initial and ongoing annual property tax filings
  • Contribute to the continued improvement of Asset Management policies and procedures with the aim of efficiency, timeliness, and accuracy
  • Document the timely completion of all compliance obligations in Adapture Renewables’ asset management platform
  • Provide feedback and recommendations to Adapture Renewables’ preferred asset management platform provider
  • Generate periodic financial performance assessments of operating portfolios as requested by senior management
  • Communicate closely with the Senior O&M Manager and the Finance department to bring substantive issues to light that may require focused attention or supplemental reporting

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of prior solar asset management experience with an emphasis on financial and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Outlook, Word and a thorough understanding of today’s solar finance structures
  • Experience in the transition of projects from construction to long-term financing under various finance structures is a plus
  • Ability to communicate effectively with financial partners, regulatory agencies and regional utilities
  • Deep understanding of finance documents and operating contracts, with a strong ability to identify and interpret relevant clauses as needed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • An ability to adapt to fluctuating workloads is important
