Investment & Fund Partnerships Principal

The Investment and Fund Partnerships Principal will help find capital to support the growth of startups accepted for our accelerator program. Third Derivative works closely with 20 leading VC partner funds and a wide network of additional investors. Thus far, our 20 partners have invested over $50M into D3 startups for a total of $600M raised. Third Derivative has also raised a ~$9M SPV that is used to offer each startup that is accepted for the program a $100k convertible note. The Investment and Fund Partnerships Principal will manage and expand these current operations while also thinking creatively about what else is needed. This might include other types of capital (e.g., project finance, debt) or more creative approaches to venture finance (e.g., impact oriented funds or crowdfunding).

Research & Startup Support Principal

The Research and Startup Support Principal will join Third Derivative’s leadership team, contributing to strategy and business development, while also managing one or more of the teams responsible for delivering core functions like startup support and/or research and startup selection, depending on fit and experience.

Research Team Manager

Your work will center around building a knowledge base of impactful climate-tech innovations and undertaking a robust due diligence process that is also aligned with interests of our capital and asset partners. You will gain broad experience with a wide range of new technologies and business models as well as use your research to publish insights that is relevant to our partners and broader climate-tech ecosystem.

The Research Manager is both an individual contributor as well as a coach and teacher for junior staff such as Associates and Interns. The Manager will help with planning and oversight of major workstreams while contributing to strategy discussions. The Manager should be comfortable interacting independently with stakeholders from across the Third Derivative ecosystem, including startups, corporates, investors, mentors, academic institutions, and governments—always focused on building D3’s ecosystem and connecting the dots to drive innovation.

Temporary Research Support

You will gain broad experience with a wide range of new technologies and business models, as well as use your research to exchange insights with our partners and the broader climate-tech ecosystem. In this position, you will be an independent contributor and work closely with colleagues under the direction of more senior staff.

Research Associate

As an Associate on the Research team, your work will center around building a knowledge base of impactful climate-tech innovations and undertaking a robust due diligence process that is also aligned with interests of our capital and asset partners. You will gain broad experience with a wide range of new technologies and business models as well as use your research to publish insights that are relevant to our partners and broader climate-tech ecosystem. In this position, you will be an independent contributor and work closely with colleagues under the direction of more senior staff.

Program Operations Lead

D3 is seeking a Program Operations Lead (POL) who will play a key role in driving operational effectiveness and efficiency. The POL has demonstrated exceptional organizational, analytical, and communication skills, and will support the development, improvement, and execution of all organizational processes, including finance, HR, IT, and legal. The ideal candidate is a problem solver and structured thinker who is extraordinarily detail-oriented while also keeping an eye on the bigger picture and what matters most.

Specialist, Data & Tools

D3 is seeking a Specialist to join its Infrastructure team, which is responsible for managing the critical data and tools required to drive the program’s performance.

D3’s team and ecosystem operate globally and primarily in a virtual environment. As such, D3’s suite of software tools are essential to the program’s success. Further, as the D3 program grows, so does the volume of data that is generated. The Specialist will ensure that the program is effectively utilizing data to drive internal decision-making and climate impact for all stakeholders in the ecosystem – startups, corporates, investors, experts, and mentors. The Specialist will have the opportunity to work cross-functionally with a wide range of data and tools to support efforts related to outreach, industry research, startup evaluation and selection, ecosystem engagement and satisfaction, impact measurement, and more.

The ideal candidate will be a spreadsheet and database wizard with a mind for setting up strong foundational infrastructure, an ability to conduct analysis and glean valuable insights from data, and a knack for making user-friendly tools and reports that effectively communicate information with a variety of audiences.
