Venture Team Lead

The Venture Team Lead is responsible to guide Arktura Ventures Innovation Projects from inception to launch. Using both broad experience and a diverse background in innovation and entrepreneurship, this role ensures delivery of a strong pipeline of impactful opportunities and solutions for creative products, technologies and business models. The Venture Team Lead serves as a player‐coach and directly leads projects in the portfolio, leveraging a small core team of dedicated Venture Specialists and external resources.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Owns the planning phase through to execution/ early stand‐up of a new venture project from inception to launch.
  • Serve as a voice to clarify the expectations of customers on new problems and solutions. Using human centered design principles, the Lead will prepare/ conduct primary user research, present target user personas, market sizing, journey maps to identify and prioritize user pains, unmet market needs and design principles.
  • Uses empathy as an excavation tool, to divine the problem beneath the problem; facilitate ideation with creativity and courage to uncover best possible range of solutions against user pains/ market needs.
  • Ability to create and test prototypes, MVPs, launch beta pilots and proofs of concept development as a means to test, learn and validate or pivot to arrive at most viable products and business models for commercialization.
  • Own the development of GTM strategy, exploring multiple launch paths and exit opportunities.
    Recruit, manage, and mentor members of the core project team, creating a high performance, innovative, collaborative, continuous learning culture.
  • Lead will drive quality deliverables for the work and embrace data driven decision‐making and diverse of perspectives to get there.
  • Alongside project work, Lead will maintain user centricity and objectivity, supporting decisions with proof points & market data from testing cycles.
  • Creates compelling presentations and storytelling, particularly around key decisions, stage gate reviews and major milestones.
  • Support best practices by scouting and implementing market research methods for novel ideas, methods and insights. Lead will promote open innovation through the introduction of new tools and processes that encourage creative thinking. Lead is willing/ able to invent new tools when the existing tools don’t fit.
  • Build/ maintain relationships internally and externally that help facilitate rapid, scrappy experimentation by “borrowing” smarts, resources, or permission from others.
  • Identifies and daylights business obstacles throughout solution discovery and development.
  • Occasional travel required.

Sr. Venture Specialist

This is a mid‐level+, growth‐oriented position for a Sr. Venture Specialist working within the Arktura Ventures innovation portfolio team. Seeking a skilled collaborator to help drive the facilitation and design of new product initiatives; making sense of user needs and market opportunities in order to deliver designs/ features that address those needs and can translate these learnings into a delightful customer experience. We are looking for an innovator who thrives in the engagement of both clients and internal partners, can easily map patterns and is driven to bust through complexity in all facets. These qualities serve the greater interest of developing intelligent products and creative business models that result in breakthrough solutions that may invent or disrupt our industry.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of HCD and Lean/Agile methodologies and performs key activities using these methodologies and respective tools
  • Conducts research and analysis of complex problem spaces leveraging primary & secondary research, and turns research into user centered insights, problems and solutions.
  • Actively participates (and may lead) discussions, working sessions, user interviews, SME interviews and workshops through active planning, collaboration, strong questioning, action items, and sharing knowledge.
  • Through user exploration and testing cycles, gather requirements, generate shared understanding, work through tradeoffs, produce ideas, and deliver optimal solutions
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively using modern suite of available tools
  • Comfort and demonstrated ability to design effective experiments, gather data/signals, and utilize learnings to iterate and evolve the product and business model
  • Demonstrate the ability to partner with various stakeholders and business partner groups
    Embodies the mindset of an innovator e.g. curiosity, tenacity, collaboration, flexibility, creativity, comfort with ambiguity, problem solving
  • Develops storyline for project planning, testing cycles/results, and product evolution
  • Prepares and delivers effective and compelling presentations for governance board
  • Build trust through exemplifying embedded user‐centered product design to the organization
  • Continuously learn through self‐study, engagement with the innovation community, and professional development opportunities (e.g. books, workshops, conferences, certifications)
  • Occasional travel required.
