Position: Energy Efficiency Regulation Summer Intern

Description: The California Public Utilities Commission (PUC) is looking to hire a student assistant. The intern will have an opportunity to contribute to the changing landscape of energy efficiency as we regulate utilities to procure new, innovative, and effective energy efficiency programs for energy customers across residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural sectors. Specifically, our energy efficiency procurement team has two years of experience and data from utilities’ efforts attracting companies that design and deliver energy efficiency programs. The utilities are about to solicit energy efficiency programs (with funding totaling > $200M) to deliver customers, including low-income residential customers, additional energy efficiency savings. The intern will support the team to assess effectiveness in attracting new energy efficiency market players, new innovative program designs, contributing to California’s climate goals, and serving underserved communities. The intern will support the team to analyze the success of CPUC policies and how these can be leveraged or improved to ensure California has a robust, competitive, and equitable energy efficiency program solicitations process.
