We are currently seeking a full-time Codes & Standards Senior Project Manager to join our Policy & Ratings Team. The person selected to fill this position shall have experience in an array of energy-efficiency technologies; expertise in consumer electronics and experience working with the electronics industry on policy issues, including industry standards development and technical working groups is particularly desirable. Knowledge of electric vehicles, battery chargers, grid harmonization technologies, demand response, and distributed generation is also desirable.

As a member of the Energy Solutions team you will have a broad impact on state and national energy codes, and energy efficiency markets through our work for major North American utilities, city and state governments, and other national leaders in energy efficiency policy. Daily responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Set and implement strategy for codes and standards development efforts including state and federal appliance and equipment standards rulemakings
  • Represent our team in public meetings, as well as meetings with utility representatives, industry representatives and energy officials
  • Conduct and oversee outreach efforts to industry stakeholders
  • Craft research and analysis plans in support of codes and standards initiatives, and lead the execution of research plans overseeing a team of researchers
  • Contribute to reports on technical codes and standards proposals, such as Title 20 CASE reports, energy savings analysis, cost-effectiveness analyses, and code compliance
  • Lead the overall direction, management, quality control, and completion of project deliverables. Develop and manage project budgets, schedules and tasks with minimal oversight.
  • Monitor the progress of projects and communicating progress to management and clients
  • Provide oversight and review of supporting staff for quality and compliance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in an energy-related or policy-related discipline including: environmental, electrical, chemical, or mechanical engineering; public policy; or economics degrees
  • At least 10 years of work experience in related area, more experience welcome
  • Knowledge of Title 20, Federal standards, ANSI, IEC, ASHRAE 90.1, IECC, NEMA, CTA, and IEEE and other energy standards and specifications
  • Experience working on policy issues in the electronics industry, including industry standards development and technical working groups
  • Professional experience engaging with stakeholders in the consumer electronics industry and/or electronics components manufacturers
  • Demonstrated research experience
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports, technical papers, and provide technical presentations to knowledgeable audiences
  • Project management experience including budget development and management
  • Willingness to conduct occasional business travel
