Project Manager
This position will work in our Project Management and Engineering (PME) team and is responsible for the direct management oversight and on-schedule, on-budget delivery of assigned projects. The ideal candidate establishes project objectives and procedures, maintains liaison with project stakeholders, and directs and monitors Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) and financial activities by providing direction to project engineers, supply chain and logistics coordinators, administrative and finance staff, on-site construction managers, and contracted EPC-turnkey services. This role will manage multiple, medium to large utility-scale projects and associated project delivery staff or may be the primary project manager on a single large project in varying regions. The candidate will ideally be based near our Bay Area home office.
Core Responsibilities
- Monitors company and EPC contractor safety and quality goals on assigned projects and ensures compliance with the same
- Manages EPC turnkey solutions and oversees the planning, design, and construction process for all assigned projects
- Manages budget and schedule goals of assigned projects, from project inception through project hand-off to the Asset Management team
- Performs regular risk analysis and cost forecasting and reporting for assigned projects
- Manages key deliverables from the Project Management team in charge of design, procurement, and construction
- Leverages knowledge of system delivery milestones to capture reduced construction costs wherever possible
- Acquires initial budget, scope and schedule sign off/buy-in from all project stakeholders
- Coordinates resource availability and operational needs to ensure achievement of established project goals
- Facilitates bid and procurement process with EPC contractors and equipment vendors.
- Coordinates with Legal department for initiation and completion of EPC and vendor agreements and subcontractor task orders
- Monitors final budget, contract review, schedule, and signature acquisition process for all assigned projects
- Creates, oversees, and tracks all schedule aspects for assigned projects, from pre-approval through project close-out to ensure on-time delivery.
- Oversees document management and administration for assigned projects
- Develops and maintains meeting minutes for reoccurring meetings
- Directs work of one or more assigned Construction Managers on a per project basis and manages/supports them in the scheduling of work
- Negotiates and manages contractor change orders
- Resolves conflicts by collecting and analyzing information, interpreting differences between base line contract work, change order work and new work, and providing recommendations to resolve
- Develops and maintains periodic status reports to keep management and project stakeholders informed on project progress
- Works with the Senior Project Manager to create Construction Management Procedures for project team application
- Proactively participates and tracks the PME “continual improvement process”
- Develops best practices to improve remote collaboration tools with field personnel and implements as needed
- Collaborates with company departments to develop improved business processes
Project Engineer
This position will work in our PME team and focus on the execution of solar and energy storage system designs, to include energy assessments and advancing early-stage designs through final EPC design and construction. This position also provides support for our Development and M&A teams with engineering, permitting, and due diligence activities. The candidate will ideally be based near our Bay Area home office. This will primarily be an office-based role with some travel and time spent on development sites, construction sites, and meeting with project stakeholders and vendors.
Core Responsibilities
- Work with the Design Engineering team that supports Engineering and Development teams in greenfield site assessments to perform plant optimizations to maximize energy production and revenue
- Work with the Design Engineering team to optimize PV plants within the project site areas using internal and industry software such as AutoCAD, PV Case and PV Syst and other standard industry software tools integrating an LCOE approach to racking, modules, inverters, equipment locations and battery storage
- Assist with the design, preparation, and modification of preliminary plant designs and layouts with the use of industry standard software while applying engineering principles and assessment methodologies
- Assist with development and evaluation of constraint maps for project sites Work across teams to ensure completion of engineering tasks (Development, Finance, Engineering, Construction, Asset Management)
- Support the project teams working on design iterations up to 30% designs and assist project engineering with addressing use permit requirements and permitting process generally
- Collaborate with project teams with owner supplied equipment, specifications, EPC design review (60%, 90%, IFP and IFC sets), and RFI and Submittal review
- Support Project Management through project permitting, IFP and IFC plan sets, and construction
- Manage RFI, Submittal, and Design review throughout project execution
- Work with company departments to develop improved engineering and task tracking processes
- Perform tasks independently and with minimal guidance from senior management, applying professional judgment based on one’s experience and training
