GreenBiz : Associate Analyst, Circular Economy

 In Jobs

This position is located in Oakland, California.

Location: Oakland, CA
Type: Full TimeMin. Experience: Entry Level

The Company: GreenBiz Group defines and accelerates markets that make up the clean economy. Through events that galvanize, stories that amplify, peer networks that bond and research that validates, GreenBiz advances opportunities at the intersection of business, technology and sustainability. GreenBiz is known for industry leading analysis, high-wattage events and a passionate team working to solve some of the thorniest challenges of our time.

The Position: We’re looking for a Circular Economy Associate Analyst to support GreenBiz’s strategic growth in the emerging circular market.

  • Your primary focus will be helping to build the program for Circularity 20 (May 18-20, Atlanta), the largest circular economy conference in the US. Building on the success of a sold-out launch event, Circularity 20 will bring together more than 1,000 thought leaders and practitioners across industries and functions to accelerate the circular economy.

  • You will also support relevant content development for GreenBiz’s other annual events, GreenBiz and VERGE, as well as maintain ongoing partnerships and communications outside of these convenings.

  • This role will report directly to the Director & Senior Analyst, Circular Economy, and will work collaboratively with members of the content, marketing, design and sales teams.

Requirements: We are looking for someone who is:

  • A Fantastic Communicator: You have an impeccable ability to speak and write clearly, thoughtfully and effectively. This role is both external and internal-facing, so you feel comfortable speaking with everyone, from your teammates at GreenBiz to corporate executives speaking at our events. You believe deeply in the importance of transparent and honest communication. You always follow up and follow through on your word.

  • Diligent and Detail-Oriented: You feel comfortable managing many moving pieces simultaneously, shifting from confirming a speaker for Circularity to emailing with an external partner about a workshop to collaborating with the internal design team on a mailer within a fifteen-minute period. Your organization and systems are infectious, and raise the bar for those around you. You believe magic is in the details; so-so is not good enough.

  • An Independent Problem-Solver: You are a self-starter who can figure anything out. You are excited to learn things you don’t know and do whatever it takes to get the job done. You also know how to ask for help when you need it.

  • Solutions-Oriented Skeptic: You are a critical-thinker and don’t take things at face-value. You ask hard questions to push us all forward, not to put anyone down.

  • A Dot-Connecter: You like to network, meet new people and draw connections between everything and everyone. You are excited to drive collaboration between teams at GreenBiz, between partners or among speakers. Intellectually, you can draw connections between trends and proof points from across industries.

  • Technologically Adept: You feel comfortable using Google Sheets, Slides and Docs, Microsoft Office software, Salesforce and Marketo — or are willing to learn new platforms and systems that you don’t already know.

  • A Good Teammate: You show up with empathy, humility and curiosity. You are not the type of person who says, “That’s not my job;” your motto is “How can I help?” Your intent with all your work is to create positive impact — for our audience, your team members and the industry as a whole.

A deep circular economy expertise is not required for this role. This position is ideal for someone looking to learn and grow with and within the emerging circular economy market. We are looking for candidates with demonstrated interest in facets of circularity, but even more important are an enthusiasm to learn and a sponge-like ability to absorb information, digest and apply new concepts.

Responsibilities: As the Associate Analyst, Circular Economy, you will:

  • Support the development and execution of GreenBiz’s conferences: Circularity, VERGE Circular and GreenBiz (circular economy track).

  • Confirm, track and communicate with speakers. This includes reviewing inbound speaker nominations for Circularity, VERGE Circular and GreenBiz events, and identifying and extending outbound invitations to prospective speakers.

  • Research and track circular economy trends, initiatives, commitments and collaborations to identify topics to feature in our conferences and online editorial coverage, plus help the entire team keep a finger on the pulse of this emerging industry.

  • Identify areas for audience development and cultivate strategic relationships with relevant stakeholders to expand GreenBiz’s reach.

  • Coordinate with the sales team to thoughtfully engage event sponsors in our conferences.

  • Coordinate with marketing and design teams to ensure aligned communication strategy. Manage website updates of speakers, sessions and programs to ensure external communications align with internal progress.

  • Prepare presentations for external meetings and speaking engagements.

  • Provide administrative support to Circular Economy Director, including coordinating calls and sending follow-up emails.

  • Respond to inbound inquiries and stakeholder questions.

  • Attend industry events, as-needed.
